5 LA tech events you should attend this week

With summer winding down, things are picking up again in LA. As usual, there is no shortage of worthwhile events to check out this week.

#DiversifyLA Panel, August 2 at 6:30 p.m.

DiversifyLA continues to take a look at the ever-changing tech community, with a focus on how companies are becoming more diverse, and how others can follow in their footsteps. The panel will discuss how successful ventures can change the tech community in more ways than one.

Targeting Marketing Tactics - Finding Your Best AudienceAugust 3 at 8 a.m.

The Encino Chamber of Commerce continues to do great things for the burgeoning San Fernando Valley tech scene with its series of events focused on the little things startup founders encounter while growing their business. The informal meetup will also be a great opportunity to network with other SFV startups, and word on the street is that bagels will be provided.

We'll Talk UX: KPCC EditionAugust 3 at 7 p.m.

Pasadena's own KPCC is getting into the startup support game with an event dedicated to UX, specifically the pitfalls that can be encountered in a site's design process. The event will be very informal, but those type of events are often the most beneficial. Head out to Pasadena and enjoy a beautiful night under the San Gabriel Mountains.

Downtown Demo and Career Day Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality #ARcadeLAAugust 4 at 6 p.m.

In the fourth event in a series dedicated to exploring the rapidly expanding virtual and augmented reality industry, attendees will have the opportunity to watch — or even participate in — a series of VR/AR-related pitches. The event's keynote speaker will be VR Playhouse.

Hack4EqualityAugust 6-September 25 at 9 a.m.

In a partnership between HackerNest, Grindr and the White House Opportunity Project, Hack4Equality kicks off with a series of events focused on using finding technology-based solutions to critical issues affecting the global LGBTQ community. Because the event will run for well over a month, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in a very cool project.

Have a great week, and be sure to check out our events calendar for more LA tech events!
