Job hunting advice network Purple Squirrel raised a $2.7 million round led by CrossCut Ventures with participation from Greycroft Partners, Arena Ventures, and 500 Startups, according to a press release. The company’s online platform offers job seekers 30-minute calls with employees from their desired workplaces, for a fee.

Content Management Service Edlio Acquires App Sangha

Content management service Edlio acquired parent-teacher messaging app Sangha, according to a press release. Edlio’s software manages more than 5,000 websites for education industry clients ranging from small private schools to larger school districts.

Entertainment Content Startup Pocketwatch Raises $6M

Kids’ entertainment content startup Pocketwatch raised $6 million led by Allen DeBevoise’s Third Wave Digital, and other investors including CBS Chairman Les Moonves, producer Jon Landau, Robert Downey Jr., and WME Partner Chris Jacquemin, reports the Hollywood Reporter. Initially, the company will focus on creating children’s content for digital streaming, including social media platforms, YouTube, and services such as Netflix.
