As you all know TechZulu is a huge supporter of Startup Weekend, and when we had the chance to be part of the very first Orange County (my home town) Startup Weekend we jumped on board. He joined Miramar in 2006. Maneesh’s prior investing experience includes an associate position at El Dorado Ventures.

The Orange County Chapter of the Tech Coast Angels is promoting a program to help jumpstart small companies, O.C. TCA said it would invest no more than $100,000 in companies applying to the program, which it said it just launched. SeedTrack, building off of earlier efforts by the group's San Diego and other chapters.

The Next 10 report found that California accounted for 24 percent of total global investment in clean technology, with a total of $11.6 billion invested in cleantech venture capital in the state since 2006. I am currently at the annual VC in the OC program held in Irvine CA by OCTANe , an organization that connects people and ideas to resources and capital in Orange County. The company brought on retailers Circuit City, Sears and Kmart in 2006 followed by mega retailer Walmart in 2007. All this success in less than five years.

It was funded in 2006 with about $8M in investments, and we were fortunate to have the benefit of that investment in the development of the intellectual property. Curtis Staker: I was actually invited into the opportunity by a pretty dynamic guy, Jay Kear, who is Orange County.
