U.S. Recognizes Southern California Technology Innovators

Several Southern California technology innovators from Southern California were recognized this morning in a ceremony at the White House, at the 2007 National Medal of Technology and Innovation awards. In a ceremony today, President George W. Bush awarded the 2007 National Medal of Technology and Innovation to a number of companies and individuals, including a number of Southern California technology pioneers. Awardees included UCLA Professor Leonard Kleinrock, who was recognized for his work on packet switching and the Internet; Andrew J. Viterbi, co-founder of Qualcomm; plus Lockheed Martin's SkunkWorks, which was behind the design of the U-2, SR-71, F-117, and F-22, and which is based in Palmdale.
