Xirrus Aims At Disaster Teams, Event Organizers

Thousand Oaks-based Xirrus, a developer of Wi-Fi networking equipment, announced Monday that it has put together a portable, pre-packaged kit which is designed for deploying Wi-Fi into disaster response and temporary events. According to Xirrus, its new pre-packaged Wi-Fi kit is aimed at disaster response command posts, conferences and expositions, and events such as festivals, markets, and fairs, and pulls together its access points along with firewalls, DHCP and other servers, and a tripod, cabling, and carrying cases. The firm said it would offer the new product online, priced starting at $3,999. Xirrus is venture backed by Canaan Partners, U.S. Venture Partners, August Capital, and QuestMark Partners.
