Burn Baby Burn: Is Traditional Licensing of Content Joining the Business Models Torched by New Technology and the Web? What You Need to Know About the New Growth After the Firestorm. Alternative licensing is now an established, yet ever-evolving reality embraced by the mainstream, as seen with the proliferation of Open Source Software, the growing reliance on Creative Commons licenses for services such as Twitter and Flickr, and the Recording Industry Association of America's consideration of blanket licenses for university peer-to-peer file sharing. These twists on traditional copyright licensing structures raise a host of questions, only a few of which have yet been addressed by the courts.  Our panel of experts will explore the key legal and policy issues raised by these new licensing systems, including the culture clash between the technical and artistic worlds, the background of Java and Creative Commons licensing, aspects of international and jurisdictional IP concerns, and the impact of recent cases including SCO v. Linux, Chang v. Virgin Mobile, and Jacobsen v. Katzer. See http://www.bhba.org/intus/event3/signup.asp?event_id=2559
