Startup Weekend Los Angeles Part 2

It’s that time again and Startup Weekend LA is back at Coloft in Santa Monica happening RIGHT NOW!!!  For those that may be unfamiliar with Startup Weekend its a weekend event in cities around the world. A highly motivated group of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more meet and in a short 54 hour event work on building projects out.

This Sunday at 6pm PST TechZulu will be streaming the presentations of the startups that have been created throughout the weekend live right here on TZ.

The event is completely sold out.  But for those who may be interested in who they have as guest speakers, Startup Weekend always has a great lineup.

This time around the speakers include:

Sean Percival

Bio: Sean Percival is an American blogger and author from Los Angeles, California. For work, Percival helps companies like MySpace and Mobile roadie build compelling web and mobile experiences; for play, he is the founder of the Los Angeles-based technology blog lalawag. Formerly with Mahalo and Docstoc, Percival taps the real-time web to identify and develop content around today’s biggest Internet trends. Along with his wife Laurie, the Percivals were featured in the 2009 LAWeekly ‘People of the Year’ issue. They were affectionately titled “Tweethearts” for their use of the modern social web in their marriage. He’s been featured in Forbes and numerous other publication for his ability to develop and monetize social networks. Sean Percival is the author of MySpace Marketing and The Second Life Travel Guide, both from Que publishing

Scott Sangster

Bio: As director of strategic planning and corporate development for the Walt Disney Internet Group, Scott Sangster identifies new media growth opportunities, works with company management to develop related strategy, and manages the evaluation and execution of acquisitions that help Disney meet its strategic objectives.

Prior to joining Disney, Sangster founded and managed a venture-backed Internet business, served five years as a management consultant to media and technology companies, and oversaw the launch of one of the first online banking services.

Sangster graduated from The American University in Washington D.C. and holds a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

Dan Gould

Bio: Dan is a founder of Namesake and leads the technology team. Dan also founded Newroo (acquired by Fox Interactive Media), Ad.ly (the world’s largest celebrity endorsement network) and Corridor. At Fox Audience Network Dan served as Vice President of Technology. Dan previously was a researcher at the National Institutes of Health and at the Brown University Computer Graphics Group and has won a number of Computer Science awards.

Bo Fishback

Bio: Bo Fishback is vice president of entrepreneurship for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and the president of Kauffman Labs for Enterprise Creation. His responsibilities include developing and advancing transformative programs that strengthen entrepreneurial engagement in the economy and help entrepreneurs succeed.He is a founder of Orbis Biosciences, a drug delivery and particle fabrication company whose core intellectual property was developed from research conducted at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Fishback also was a co-founder of Lightspeed Genomics, a next-generation genome sequencing company that was spun out of a research program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and acquired by Macrogen, Inc in 2009. Beyond these ventures, he has worked with a variety of life sciences and high-tech startup companies as an advisor, board member, and angel investor. Currently, he is on the board of directors for Orbis Biosciences and is an advisor for Plotwatt, Inc.

Efren Toscano

Efren Toscano founded TechZulu in the heart of Southern California: Orange County. Focused on providing a platform to showcase all that is happening here in the tech and media space.
