AT&T's DIRECTV NOW Tops 500,000 Subscribers

AT&T, which has been ramping up its efforts and presence in Los Angeles, both with technology and Hollywood, said this week that it has topped 500,000 subscribers on its over-the-top (OTT) streaming platform, DIRECTV NOW. The service--which is run out of AT&T's El Segundo offices--provides access to both live and on-demand television, delivered by high speed Internet and mobile broadband. AT&T said it has been gaining a significant number of customers by bundling the service with its wireless plans. AT&T's DIRECTV NOW service is aimed at the growing number of "cord cutters" who have been opting out of traditional television cable subscriptions.
