esVolta Wins Large Energy Storage Project With PG&E

Aliso Viejo-based esVolta, which develops utility-scale energy storage projects, said it has beens elected for a large battery energy storage project in Northern California. According to esVolta, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has selected the company to build an energy storage system in Santa Clara County, California. The 75 MW / 300 MWh lithium-ion battery storage system is called the Hummingbird Energy Storage project, and is aimed to be put into service by December of 2020. Financial details of the win were no announced. esVolta is backed by private equity investor Blue Sky Alternative Investments LLC.
