Tetra Tech Wins $125 Million USPS Work
Tetra Tech has worked with the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years.

Tetra Tech Inc., a Pasadena-based engineering and consulting firm, has landed a $125 million contract with the U.S. Postal Service to supply nationwide emergency preparedness and response support, and environmental services.

The environmental services will include risk assessment, hazard mitigation, toxin assessment and abatement, air pollution studies, environmental permitting and compliance, water quality analysis, and engineering design services, Tetra Tech said.

The contract continues Tetra Tech’s 30-year association with the USPS, according to company Chief Executive Dan Batrack.

“We are pleased to support the USPS in their emergency response planning and mitigation programs to help make communities more resilient to disasters,” he said in the March 5 announcement.

Tetra Tech has primarily done field work, including toxic chemicals assessment and cleanup, since it was founded in 1966. More recently, it has focused on the higher margin services of front-end information technology and data analytics for federal agencies.

Last month, the company acquired Segue Technologies Inc., an Arlington, Va.-based information technology management firm, for an undisclosed sum. Segue expands Tetra Tech’s data analytics and online cloud services offerings to government agencies.

Tetra Tech employs about 20,000 people around the world. It reported net income for its fiscal year first quarter ending in December of $47.3 million, up 12.5% from the same period the year before.
