Chrome River Inks Deal With Exxon

Approximately 70,000 new customers will soon use Mid-Wilshire-based developer Chrome River Technologies Inc.’s invoice-reporting software thanks to a deal with ExxonMobil Corp., Socaltech reports. ExxonMobil will now use Chrome River’s software company-wide to manage employee expenses. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Chrome River reported it services more than 2 million users worldwide prior to this addition of ExxonMobil.

Wells Leaving Netflix

Netflix Chief Financial Officer David Wells announced Aug. 13 he plans to leave the Hollywood streaming giant to focus on philanthropy. Wells joined the video platform in 2004 and has held the role since 2010. Engadget speculates Wells’ departure is ‘notable’ because last quarter Netflix fell short of its subscriber goal.

Bird Scooters Combat Vandalism

The Los Angeles Times reported Bird Rides Inc.’s popular electric scooters are being found buried at sea, set on fire, covered in dog feces or destroyed in various ways across the city. This is a common problem with dockless, shared-ride technologies and the L.A. Times said Bird declined to state how much of its product has been vandalized since its launch in Santa Monica last September. According to the Times, independent contractors work to combat the damage and make roughly $15 per repair.
