AwesomenessTV Acquired By Viacom

Los Angeles-based AwesomenessTV, which develops digital media for the youth market, has been sold to Viacom, in a deal reportedly worth less than $300M. Viacom acquired AwesomenessTV from Comcast, Verizon, and Hearst. Comcast/NBC Universal had owned 51 percent of the company, which Verizon and Hearst evenly splitting the remaining 49 percent of ownership. AwesomenessTV is best known for developing a number of Youtube channels, providing short-form original content for brands, as well as other related efforts. As part of the effort, the company's current CEO, Jordan Levin, will be leaving the company.
