Reliam Adds G2 Tech Group, Plans Rebrand

South Bay-based cloud computing service provider Reliam announced May 23 the acquisition of Boston-based G2 Tech Group for an undisclosed sum. The deal is the second purchase for Reliam in the last month and comes after Great Hill Partners, a Boston private equity firm, ponied up $75 million in November to facilitate acquisitive opportunities. Reliam said in a statement that it would be rebranding later this year to incorporate G2 Tech and Stratalux, another South Bay web services firm Reliam said it acquired in April.

Tinder Developing More Specific Location Feature

West Hollywood-based dating app maker Tinder said is testing a new feature that would allow users to have their whereabouts tracked more accurately, according to TechCrunch. The new feature, called Places, is used to narrow down prospective matches for users by comparing the locations they frequent.

FreedomPop Launches New Cellphone Service

West L.A.-based FreedomPop said May 23 it was launching a new $15 per month unlimited cell phone plan aimed at Sprint and T-Mobile customers, SoCal Tech reports. The company said it wants to ensure a competitive market continues to exist if the T-Mobile and Sprint merger is ultimately consummated.
