Surf Air Gets Funding Round

Santa Monica-based Surf Air, the new startup out of the MuckerLab accelerator which is headed by Wade Eyerly, has announced its funding round, saying today that it has scored a key round of funding from Anthem Venture Partners, NEA, actor Jared Leto, Mike Walsh, TriplePoint Capital, Siemer Ventures, Baroda Ventures, Gilad and Eytan Elbaz, Rick Caruso, and Jeffrey Stibel. The startup--which is developing a subscription-based, all-you-can-fly airline which connects Palo Alto and Los Angeles--did not announce the size of the round, which is rumored to be somewhere in the range of $14M. Surf Air says it already has signed up 500 founding members for the launch of its service, which it expects to launch in late summer of this this year. Surf Air is planning on offering it subscription plans for as low as $790 a month, with unlimited service on mid-sized executive aircraft. More information »
