Two Los Angeles area venture capital firms have re-upped their investments in a provider of identity management software. in its new round of funding, which was led by Emergence Capital Partners. Other investors, aside form Anthem and DFJ Frontier, were RPM Ventures, Tim Draper, and Square 1 Bank.

Two Los Angeles-based venture firms, DFJ Frontier and Anthem Venture Partners , have invested in a Portland software firm developing online identification and single-sign in software. JanRain's software allows for single sign onto web sites, including using OpenID and other standards.

I was on This Week in Venture Capital (TWiVC) again this week with Jason Calacanis. Bill Gross is the man responsible for the overwhelming amount of monetization on the web. I won’t belabor this – I have an investment in this space ( ad.ly ) so I’m biased. 2.6mm in Series A : Canaan , Anthem.

What a pleasure that I got to spend an hour talking with both Om Malik (whom I’ve always respected his views) and Paul Jozefak , a venture capital partner at Neuhaus Partners in Germany (and formerly the head of Europe for SAP Ventures). This was really a fun week at TWiVC because we decided to have an entrepreneur come and talk about raising capital rather than having a VC come on. Raised angel money from Rob Lord, Reid Hoffman, Benchmark Capital and others. And the broader question of whether VC’s will continue to invest in the Twitter ecosystem. MetaMarkets.

1 of a product up and running in a few months weeks getting thousands of users for next to no capital, in Los Angeles many folks will take over a year and spend a million dollars just to get a beta product ready. He just pounded out design and code for a few weeks and got Plancast up on the web and users adopting his product right away.
