Belkin Buys Energy Sensing Technology Firm

Playa Vista-based Belkin, a manufacturer of computer accessories, announced today that it has acquired Zensi, a developer of technology that senses and monitors energy use. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to Belkin, the acquisition moves the firm into the energy conservation market, and will help it expand its Conserve energy management product portfolio. Belkin said that Zensi's technology is based on IP licensed from the School of Interactive Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology and in the Computer Science & Engineering and Electrical Engineering departments of the University of Washington.
