MRV Wins BBC

Chatsworth-based MRV Communications, a developer of optical networking hardware, said today that it was selected by the BBC, for transporting high definition video between temporary studio locations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. MRV said the BBC used its TereScope 5000/G products, a free-space optical system which provides Ethernet service. The systems were apparently used because of lack of fiber at its temporary video production sites in Cape Town, South Africa.
