ActionAllStars.com Signs Up 100K Users For Sports Site

Marina Del Rey-based Six Degree Games is off to a rapid start with its new Action AllStars virtual world, the firm tells socalTECH, with more than 100,000 registered user in the first two weeks of public availability. The site--which counts both the National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball Advanced Media as partners--offers an online site focused on interacting with friends, playing games, and chatting with other sports fans. Minard Hamilton, the firm's CEO and co-founder, told us that that the most popular part of the site has been the firm's areas for NBA games.

"Given the timing of our launch and the fact that we're in the midst of this year's NBA season, our members have been excited by our use of NBA games, players and jerseys which have all contributed to increased traffic and popularity, " Minard explained. However, he said that the site also has eyes on Major League Baseball's opening day. Minard also said that the firm's initial users have "almost entirely" been from the US, which is the firm's primary focus.

Six Degree Games launched its Action AllStars site on December 18th, and features such sports as basketball, baseball, football, and snowboarding; the company is targeting the six through age 14 demographic. Minard Hamilton and Ben Jones, the co-founders of the firm, were both previously at JAMDAT. The firm is venture backed by Clearstone Venture Partners and Prism Venture Partners, and raised $7M in a venture round in August.
