Clearstone Re-Ups On Biometrics Firm AOptix

Santa Monica-based venture capital investor Clearstone Ventures has re-upped in a developer of biometric identity verification technology. Campbell, California-based AOptix announced a $42M, Series E funding round today, which came from Clearstone Venture Partners, DAG Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Northgate Capital and W Capital Partners--all existing investors--along with new investor True Ventures. The firm said the funding will go towards product development, sales and marketing. AOptix is developing identity verification systems which use iris recognition, which are already being used at locations such as Gatwick Airport in London and Qatar for identity verification.
