Ingram Micro Makes Investment In E-Commerce Logistics Robotics Firm

Irvine-based technology distributor Ingram Micro has made an investment in e-commerce logistics startup HDS, which is developing a robotics system which uses artificial intelligence and mobile, articulated robots for the logistics industry. According to HDS, Ingram Micro invested an additional $10M note investment in the startup, to help it speed development ofits system. HDS is based in Palo Alto, California. HDS says it is developing a software-defined, end-to-end fulfillment system which uses intelligent vision and AI with mobile and articulated robots which handle sorting, storage, retrieval and picking in large scale manufacturing and distribution operations. Ken Beyer, Executive Vice President and President, Commerce & Lifecycle Services at Ingram Micro, joins the board at HDS as part of the investment round.
