Chirpify Hires LA Music Executive For Twitter Commerce

If you want to get into the music business, there's no better place than Los Angeles--including if you're a technology startup, apparently. Chirpify, a venture backed startup developing a way for users to transact and pay for merchandise over Twitter, said today that it has turned to an LA native to head up its business development efforts in the music area. The Portland startup said it has hired Rory Felton as its new Vice President of Business Development-Music for the company. Felton has co-founded his own record company, served as an executive producer, created a joint publishing venture with BMG Music Publishing, and produced a long list of music videos, the firm said. Chirpify is venture backed by Voyager Capital, Andy Liu of BuddyTV, and angels, and raised its first round back in April of this year. The firm's service has been popular with musicians, who can sell MP3 tracks, concert tickets, and other items to users via Twitter.
