OpenX Issues Fix For Major Security Issue

Pasadena-based OpenX is experiencing some big growth pains this week, and is facing a nasty security issue with the open source version of its software. The company's software is widely used by Internet websites and publishers to handle ad serving. According to widespread security bulletins, its free, open source distribution of its ad server was compromised with a remote code execution security issue. OpenX issued a mantory update Tuesday to fix the issue, which opened up users of the software to arbitrary PHP code execution on its servers. OpenX said that the security issue was limited to the open source version of its binaries, and does not affect its enterprise, supported versions of its product.
