Citrix Cuts 10 Percent; Santa Barbara Hit

Citrix Systems, a provider of enterprise infrastructure software based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, said Wednesday that the firm is reducing its headcount by approximately 10 percent--and has laid off staff at the firm's Santa Barbara Unit, Citrix Online. According to sources, the firm has provided notice to people in its Santa Barbara office about the cuts. A spokesperson for Citrix confirmed the cuts Friday evening. Citrix Online is responsible for the firm's GoToMeeting, GoToMyPC, and GoToWebinar, along with products. Citrix did not detail the layoff plans, which were announced as part of its quarterly results, but said that it would incur cash and non-cash charges related to the consolidation of facilities as part of its restructuring. A Citrix Online spokesperson said that despite the cuts, Citrix Online is seeing growth--the firm had reported 22% growth in its online business in the results--much of it due to companies looking to use online meetings to cut back on travel expenses.
