Miku Tackles Smart Baby Monitor Market

A new, Los Angeles-based startup, Miku, has launched its first product, a "smart" baby monitor which it says captures and analyzes a baby's breathing and sleeping patterns, the temperature and humidity levels in a baby's environment, as well as other data. Miku--which launched its product at CES 2019--says its sensors connects with smartphones "from anywhere in the world" and sends alerts to parents using AI and machine learning technology, using both optical and wireless sensing. Miku says its products works in real-time to detect and analyze the baby's breathing, sound, and motion, and tracks and graph's a baby's sleeping habits which can be browsed through a "digital dashboard". The company's iOS and Android apps lets parents sleep reports, read expert health tips and scroll through an archive of photos, videos of their child; the company says the data gathered will be used to health recommendations like check-up reminders or provide alerts when vitals change, such as your baby's heart rate or room's temperature and humidity. Miku says its product retails for $399, and was "developed by military engineers."
