Newegg Expands Logistics Effort

Los Angeles-based online electronics retailer Newegg says it has "dramatically increased" its logistics capabilities, as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Newegg said its third-party logistics (3PL) operation has both increased production and made "significant hires" across the U.S. The company did not say how many people it has hired as a result of that expansion. The company says it has seen a double-digit increase in its order volume from March into April, which it says is an indication that the demand for product continues to be strong. In an indirect jab at Amazon, the company said that "while many of the industry’s largest e-commerce companies de-prioritize customer orders due to an inability to keep up with demand" the company is "shipping nearly every customer order in record time." Amazon has de-prioritized deliveries of non-essential items -- including many of the electronics, gaming accessories, and computer items that Newegg carries -- in favor of food and staples, medical, and other items.
