Semtech Wins Smart Grid Design

Camarillo-based analog and mixed signal semiconductor maker Semtech has scored a new design win in the smart energy grid market, saying today that CAHORS Group, a manufacturer of monitoring products for smart grids, will use the company's LoRa devices and the LoRaWAN protocol in its line fault detection products. Financial impact of the win were not announced. CAHORS Group develops products which are used to detect issues in smart grid networks. CAHORS said its products continuously monitor grid networks, including overhead voltage lines, and transmits faults in real time to utilities; its sensors are installed on power line support poles.
