DTS Gets Design Win With Philips

Calabasas-based DTS, the developer of surround sound and other audio processing technology, has scored a win with TPV Technology Limited, the manufacturer of Philips branded TVs and speakers. According to DTS, TPV Technoloogy has licensed its DTS Play-fi whole-home wireless audio technology. The companies said that TPV will integrate DTS Play-Fi technology into its televisions, sound bars, and speakers for sale under the Philips brand in Europe, China, Russia, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. Financial details of the licensing deal were not announced. DTS is a unit of Xperi Corporation. The company's Play-Fi technology allows manufacturers to create their own, whole-home wireless sound systems, linking together speakers and other products, and competes against proprietary systems like Sonos.
