Qualcomm Rolls Out New Biometric Patch Design

San Diego-based Qualcomm said this week that it has rolled out a new line of single-use, biometric patches, through its subsidiary, Qualcomm Life. According to Qualcomm, it has released reference designs--used by engineers to develop their own products designs from the technology--that allows for the monitoring of patients with real time data. Qualcomm said it is using Benchmark Electronics as the FDA manufacturer of record for its new line of products. The two said its new products are currently in clinical validation, and the patches are slated to be commercially available through Benchmark in 2018.
