Esri Donates Software To Small, Least Developed Nations

Redlands-based GIS software developer Esri said on Thursday that it will donate software licenses for its popular ArcGIS software, to official statistical agencies in the least developed nations in the world. According to Esri, eligible "Least Developed Countries (LDCs)" and "Small Island Developing States (SIDS)" can get up to $700,000 each in software for census work from the company. Esri said the effort is being made in conjunction with a United Nations (UN) expert group which is working on modernization programs for countries around the world.
