Los Angeles-based MySpace Music announced this morning that it has hired Dmitry Shapiro , who founded Veoh, as its new Chief Technology Officer. San Diego-based Koji, which develops an app store for helping creators earn money, said late Tuesday that it has raised $20M in its Series B fundraising. Shapiro previously founded the video sharing site Veoh, and also was the CTO of MySpace, in addition to serving at Google. The company says it has now raised a total of $36M.

Los Angeles- and Israel-based Qlipso , a developer of online video sharing and editing tools, announced this morning that it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Veoh.com. Qlipso is backed by Jerusalem Venture Partners, and is now operating a Los Angeles office after its acquisition of Veoh. READ MORE>>.

Veoh had raised more than $70M in venture funding, before being force into bankruptcy in February.

Shapiro was the former founder of Veoh Networks and head of MySpace Music. Altly detailed its plans to create an alternative to Facebook last week, complaining in a lengthy manifesto from Shapiro that an alternative to Facebook was sorely needed due to privacy and other issues with the social networking site.
