Garcetti, With Eye On 2020, Takes LA Innovation Model Nationwide

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti--who may be looking to a Presidential run in 2020--is launching a new nonprofit which looks to take his pro-innovation and pro-startup approach in Los Angeles, and takes it nationwide. Garcetti has started a new nonprofit, Accelerator for America, which will help fund "innovation investments" around the U.S. Garcetti has gained a reputation in Los Angeles for his pro-growth and pro-startup efforts. The new nonprofit says it will support initiatives which can "connect people with existing jobs, create new opportunities and foster infrastructure development". Among the members of the new group's Advisory Council are Dollar Shave Club CEO and Founder Michael Dubin, and Chamath Palhapitiya, the CEO of Social Capital.
