Epoxy Tunes Into $2M to Enable YouTube, Video Publishing

One of the hottest sectors in Southern California's high tech world in the last couple of years has been video--namely, Internet video and content creation. With the rise of an increasingly large number of companies, producers, individuals, and others building online video channels, there's been a corresponding increase in the need for tools to serve that audience. To that end, Venice-based Epoxy announced this morning that it has raised $2M in a funding round, to help build out its product suite to help grow, engage, and monetize online video channels.

The new round was led by GRP Partners, which adds Mark Suster to Epoxy's board of directors. Other investors in the funding include Greycroft Partners, Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments, Advancit Capital, Allen DeBevoise, Ynon Kreiz, among others. According to Epoxy, the new funding will go to expand its engineering team and build out its products. Epoxy is led by Juan Bruce, the former Presiden tof Digital at Team Downey, who also has served at IDEO; the firm's other founders include Jason Ahmad (Proto), Peter Skirko (Adobe, mixpanel), and Brendan Wypich (YouTube).

Epoxy said its tools are used to help online video channels optimize, publish, and grow their audience; the firm is aiming at YouTube channel publishers, multi-channel networks, and the digital division of Hollywood studios.
