Report: Ring Encouraged Users To Report Their Neighbors For Free Stuff

Los Angeles-based Ring, the developer of Internet-connected doorbells and security cameras, reportedly told people to report "suspicious activity" in their neighborhood in exchange for free "swag bags", according to Motherboard. Motherboard--citing an internal company slide presentation from Ring--said people were encouraged to report on their neighbors in exchange for discount codes and "swag" from Ring, after creating a new "Digital Neighborhood Watch" program. Ring told Motherboard that the program was dicontinued after it was acquired by Amazon.com.
