NanoH2O Sets COO

El Segundo-based NanoH2O, the developer and manufacturer of reverse osmosis membranes for seawater desalination, has appointed Doug Barnes as the firm's Chief Operating Officer. Barnes joins the company from Planar, a developer of digital displays, where he had spent 25 years running its manufacturing operations. NanoH2O said the move will help it build the necessary infrastructure to support its expansion efforts. NanoH2O is commercializing technology developed at UCLA for reverse osmosis. The company is backed by BASF Venture Capital GmbH, CalPERS Clean Energy & Technology Fund, Keytone Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Oak Investment Partners, PCG Clean Energy & Technology Fund, Rusheen Capital Partners, and Total Energy Ventures International. The company is headed by technology veteran Jeff Green (Stamps.com, Archive).
