Los Angeles-based crowdsourced content startup Tongal has linked up with Nokia , to promote the creation of a virtual reality film project through its program, the companies said today. According to the two, the new virtual reality project, Look Around You , will challenge creators to develop 120-second shorts that bring virtual reality stories to life.

Los Angeles-based TeleSign , which provides two-factor phone- and mobile-based identity verification systems for many major Internet services, has rolled out a new software development kit (SDK). TeleSign said its TeleSign Auto Verify SDK helps mobile app developers streamline the account verification process, without the need for one time passcodes.

San Diego-based Qualcomm said today that it has inked a new patent license agreement with BRUSA , an automotive power electronics supplier. Qualcomm said the patent license covers its Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging (WEVC) technology, and allows BRUSA to commercialize WEVC systems for Plug-In Hybrid and Electric Vehicles. Los Angeles-based online advertising automation technology developer Rubicon Project reported some healthy growth in its second quarter. Rubicon said Tuesday afternoon that it had $53.0M in revenues, an 88 percent increase from the second quarter of 2014, when it had revenues of $28.3M. Rubicon said the growth in revenues game both from organic growth, and strategic acquisitions.

Yorba Linda-based Productive Access, Inc. , the makers of the mTAB survey analysis tool, has been acquired by investment firm Poplar Capital Partners. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. The companies said they have formed a new entity, mTAB LLC, which will combine investment capital from Poplar and the technology from Product Access Inc.

El Segundo-based Wyle Laboratories , a provider of biomedical, medical, and health services, has been awarded a $1.44 billion contract from NASA , to support human spaceflight programs at NASA--to help enable the human journey to Mars. NASA announced the contract award on Tuesday, saying that the contract will support both research on the International Space Station and the agency's efforts to deliver humans to Mars.
