Singularity 6 Takes $16.5M In Series A

Los Angeles-based Singularity 6, a developer of online games, has raised $16.5M in a Series A funding round, the company said this morning. The funding was led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and also included seed investor LVP as well as FunPlus Ventures. Andrew Chen, a Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, will join the company's board of directors as part of the investment. According to Singularity 6, it is looking to deliver a "more meaningful" online game experience. Singularity 6 said the new funding will help it power up its technology and game development efforts. Singularity 6 said that it wants to help create games where inhabitants combine their sense of curiosity and exploration with a true sense of purpose. Anthony Leung, the CEO and co-founder of Singularity 6 said in a statement that the company was created because "games are significant on a personal level, they are more than mere entertainment, but rather a path to community, friendships and a real sense of belonging." Leung and co-founder Aidan Karabaich were both formerly at Riot Games.
