Allied Esports Gets Backing From TV Azteca

Irvine-based Allied Esports, an e-sports league operator, has scored backing from Mexican sports television network TV Azteca, the companies said Wednesday morning. According to the companies, TV Azteca, which is part of Grupo Salinas, will purchase $5M of shares of Allied Esports via an equity investment in Black Ridge Acquisition Corp. As a part of the deal, the two said they will create a new, 24-hour digital e-sports channel dedicated to e-sports and video gaming for the Mexican market, and also will work on efforts to develop e-sports talent across Mexico and Latin America. In addition, the two will create an e-sports venue and content facilities in the Mexican market.
