Pepper Financial Gets $5.6M For Business Management Software

Los Angeles-based Pepper Financial, a startup led by startup veteran James Borow, recently raised $5.6M to bring better financial management to businesses. The firm said over the holidays that it had raised $5.6M in a seed funding, which was led by Mark Suster at Upfront Ventures, and which also included Lerer Hippeau, Manta Ray, and angels. The company said it is creating a "new set of tools" to help businesses grow smarter. The service is currently taking signups for a waitlist for its beta, and says it will be free to use. Pepper Financial's co-founder and CEO is James Borow, previously was was co-founder and CEO of SHIFT, which he sold to Brand Network for $50M in 2015; he later was Global Head of Revenue Programs at Snap, and helped found commercial real estate marketplace CREXi; he also was involved with Forge Platform, a developer of software development kits for Ethereum.
