FreedomPop Debuts 4G iPod Touch Sleeve

FreedomPop, the venture backed startup providing free, 4G wireless Internet service, launched its 4G iPOd touch sleeve today, saying that it is now shipping its device, which connects any fourth generation iPod touch to the Internet via 4G wireless. The firm said the sleeve lets iPod users connect to the Internet anywhere the company provides 4G coverage, without a monthly contract or fees. FreedomPop is providing free, 4G wireless data, with up to 500MB of free 4G wireless Internet every month, along with premium, higher limit plans. The company is venture backed by Mangrove Capital, DCM, and Atomico, the investment arm of Skype founder Niklas Zennstrom. The new iPod Touch sleeve costs $99.00. FreedomPop is leveraging the WiMax network built by Clearwire; the company says it also has a deal to expand on Sprint's 4G LTE network when it rolls out next year.
