Optimer Pharmaceuticals In Executive Turmoil

Publicly held San Diego firm Optimer Pharmaceuticals, a developer of biopharmaceutical products, appears to be in the midst of a major executive overhaul. According to the firm this morning, its board has removed Dr. Michael Chang as Chairman, terminated its CFO, John D. Prunty, and terminated VP Dr. Youe-Kong Shue. The company said the move came due to an issue involving record keeping and options grants. The firm said it has named Hank McKinnell as Chairman of the firm, with General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer becoming acting CFO.
