Los Angeles-based mobile dating app developer Grindr has raised $93M for its gay dating apps, from Chinese gaming firm Beijing Kunlun Tech Co. Grindr said late Monday that it sold a 60% stake in the company to Beijing Kunlun Tech Co., valuing the company at $155M. Grindr told its users that it would be "business as usual" for the firm, which had previously been entirely self funded.

Hawthorne-based commercial rocket and spaceflight provider SpaceX is planning another launch for this weekend, according to Elon Musk, and plans to attempt another landing of its rocket--this time, on the ocean. SpaceX--which, after multiple tries, finally managed to successfully land the first stage of its Falcon 9 at Cape Canaveral in December--needs its "drone ship" landing for high velocity missions, according to Musk.

Los Angeles-based mPulse a developer of mobile software to help health plans better communicate with their clients, has raised $10M in a Series A funding round. The funding came from HLM Venture Partners, along with OCA Ventures, Merrick Ventures and Jumpstart Ventures. mPulse is led by Chris Nicholson. The company's mobile software is used by health plans and pharmaceutical companies, and counts the Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) and Kaiser as customers.

Rancho Santa Margarita-based solid state disk drive manufacturer Virtium said today that it has launched a new line of industrial, SSD hard drives. Virtium said its new, StorFly XE Class SSDs are aimed at industrial system designers, and use multi-level cell (iMLC) technology, and can handle industrial temperatures of between -40C to 85C. The new dries range from 30Gb to 480GB, and support M.2, CFast, Mini Card, mSATA, SlimSATA, as well as 1.8" and 2.5" form factors.

Santa Monica-based cloud software developer Cornerstone OnDemand has signed on shipping and transportation giant Maersk has its newest customer, the company reported this morning. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Cornerstone OnDemand says it will deploy its Cornerstone Learning and Cornerstone Connect products to Maersk's 89,000 employees worldwide.

Vancouver- and Los Angeles-based mimik ttechnology the developer of a content discovery and sharing platform, aimed at use on home gateways, set-top boxes, and cloud servers, has named Kai Buehler as its new Chief Marketing Officer. mimik said Buehler, who is located in Los Angeles, will oversee product development, new distribution partnerships and monetization for the company.
