Ascus Biosciences Finds $46M For Animal Health, Nutrition

San Diego-based Ascus Biosciences, a developer of feed supplements for animal health and nutrition, said this week that it has raised $46M in a Series B funding round. THe funding was led by Temasek Holdings, and also included Anterra Capital, Formation 8, and Cavallo Ventures (venture capital arm of Wilbur-Ellis), as well as angels. According to Ascus Biosciences, it will use the funding to go towards its customers sales and service teams, new products, as well as its core technology platform. The company's technology is focused on identifying the beneficial microbes that naturally occur in an animal's G.I. system, uses those to select the most beneficial to animals, and creates feed additives to provide those microbes to those animals.
