Over the years I have counseled entrepreneurs to think of a “no” response in terms of “yes, but…” There is always another way to say “no” that leaves the door open for creative thinking. Well, almost always. Sometimes, you just have to suck it up and say “NO” with strong conviction. It usually happens after several attempts to find a “yes, but” solution to a problem or issue that just can’t be resolved.

Unmanned aerial vehicle maker 3D Robotics , which was started in San Diego but now is based in Berkeley, has raised nearly $27M as part of what looks to be an ongoing funding round. According to a regulatory filing by the company, the drone maker has raised $26,699,526 out of a target of $45M, in a round which kicked off on May 21st. The company has not yet announced details on the funding effort.

Los Angeles-based content network Mitu , and online film school CreatorUp is launching a new boot camp and startup accelerator specifically for creators. According to the two, the mitu Digital Bootcamp will run from June 17th to July 22nd, and is aimed at finding Latino millennials (age 18-24) who can help it create content. The two said the boot camp includes three, in-person sessions and weekly online courses, and also includes a chance at a paid internship at Mitu.

Santa Monica-based TigerText , which develops secure messaging software which is used in the healthcare industry, said this morning that it is working with Honeywell on a deal which will integrate the company's apps with the Honeywell Dolphin CT50h smartphone. Honeywell's CT50h is specifically designed for healthcare applications, and integrates standard smartphone functions with a barcode scanner for scanning in patient information and data.

After a painful restructuring earlier this year, Berkeley, CA-based 3D Robotics appears to be raising additional capital. The high-profile drone startup, which raised $50 million in venture funding early last year in a Series C funding round led by San Diego-based Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM ), has raised almost $26.7 million in a combination of securities, convertible debt, and debt, according to a regulatory filing Wednesday.

The company--now trading as NH on the NASDAQ Global Market--sold 6.5 million shares at $14.00 per share last night, and was trading around $18.87 this morning, having jumped as high as $21.00 earlier in the day.

Salvino was most recently Group Chief Executive of Accenture Operations, overseeing more than $7 billion in annual net revenues and 100,000 people globally, according to the company. Salvino spent 22 years at Accenture.

Santa Monica-based Edmunds.com is making its data assets--including information on how users are shopping, researching, and pricing specific makes models, years, and types of vehicles--through a deal with Oracle , the two said this morning.
