SLD Laser Acquired By KYOCERA

Goleta-based laser developer SLD Laser said this morning that it has been acquired by KYOCERA Corporation. The company--formerly known as Soraa Laser Diode, Inc.--says it will oeprate under the new name KYOCERA SLD Laser, and is now 100% owned by KYOCERA. SLD Laser develops laser products used in the mobility, specialty lighting, consumer, and industrial markets. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. The newly acquired company is led by Dr. James Raring, who serves as President and CEO of KSLD.
