eFTW Takes On eSports Wagering

A new, Los Angeles-based startup is hoping to tie together the world of eSports and wagering, saying that it has launched a new service which lets users wager on eSports matches around the world for free, with the ability to redeem winnings for in-game prizes in League of Legends, DOTA 2, Counter-Strike:Global Offensive and other titles. esports For The Win (eFTW), founded by Erik Swanson, offers up both iPhone and Android apps, which let users both watch those eSports tournaments and also predict the outcome of those tournaments. eFTW said payouts are based on real odds from esports sites, and that it will also have global and friend rankings on the site, in addition to features to sync your account with friends.
