ObEN Enables Personalized, AI Driven Medical Health Assistant

Pasadena-based ObEN, which develops avatar technology and software, is powering a new, personalized, AI-driven medical health assistance app, the company said this week, being developed by the MedStar Health Research Institute. According to ObEN, MedStar is developing its medical health assistance app, PAI Care, to help monitor patients with heart failure. The startup said MedStar is running a four-month study investigating the use of voice-activated and avatar-enabled technologies for monitoring heart failure patients at home and whether this monitoring improves health and recovery outcomes. The app uses "Tara", an intelligence avatar created using ObEN's technology. The study will have patients interact with Tara, an intelligent 3D Healthcare Assistant Avatar created using ObEN’s PAI technology, via a tablet-based app. ObEN is venture backed by K11, Tencent, Softbank Ventures Korea, and HTC Vive X, and is located at Idealab; the company's CEO is Nikhil Jain.
