Tapatalk Turn To Blockchain To Monetize Forum Content

Santa Monica-based Tapatalk, which develops a popular mobile application to allow users to access and read online forums, is turning to Blockchain in an attempt to reward content creators. According to Tapatalk, its "Gold Points" reward system--which rewards forum content creators based on pageview or ad impressions--will now be powered by blockchain technology. Tapatalk said its adoption of blockchain will make "micro-payments" more feasible. Tapatalk said the adoption of the technology will enable members of forums to purchase "Gold Points" and redeem them for digital goods, to remove ads or to donate to their forum administrators. Tapatalk's software is used to access online forums and discussion communities via a native, mobile app. The company's software works on top of existing forum and discussion group software and services, which let users discuss topics and information they are interested in with other enthusiasts. Those forums are best known for such things as honest user reviews and rankings of products, discussions on different topics of interest, and for being the source of information on thousands of narrow interest areas not covered elsewhere on the Internet. Tapatalk is led by CEO Winter Wong.
