CoreLogic: Hurricane Dorian Threatens 668,052 Homes With Storm Surge

Irvine-based property information provider CoreLogic has run an analysis on the possible impacts of Hurricane Dorian, the hurricane that threatens to hit Florida on Labor Day, and says 668,052 homes are at risk from storm surge damage. The company--which regularly analyzes possible impacts from storms during hurricane season--said the reconstruction value of all of those homes total nearly $144.6 billion. The company said it analyzed all of the homes in the August 29th "cone of uncertainty". That cone, issued by the National Hurricane Center (NHC), shows where the center of the hurricane might end up, and is not an indication of where actual damages would occur. CoreLogic said its analysis are based on the Thursday, August 29th 5:00 p.m. EDT forecast by the NHC, assuming a Category 3 storm; later updates from the NHC have since upgraded Dorian to a Category 4 storm at landfall.
