Polycade Takes On PC Gaming

Los Angeles-based Polycade, which is backed by Founders Fund, Wavemaker Partners, Rashaun Williams and Eric Campbell, and has been part of the Comcast/NBCUniversal LIFT Labs accelerator powered by Techstars, said it has announced a new product, which turns any PC into an arcade gaming system. The company--which was founded by Jake Galler and Tyler Bushnell, son of Atari and Chuck E. Cheese founder Nolan Bushnell--says its new product, the Polycade Arcade Gaming Software (Polycade AGS), turns any PC into a video game system. The company also announced the Polycade 2600, a PC gaming console designed for the living room, Polycade eZpZ Controller, a SNES-styled classic controller, and Polycade Arcade Controller, bringing arcade style gaming to the couch. Pricing on the various products was not announced. Polycade's existing game systems are high end--the company offers its home version of its gaming systems for $3,999, and another version for businesses that cost $4,299. The company claims the new PC version and new consoles will ship within six months; it says it plans on using IndieGoGo to raise funding for the effort and to "engage new and old Polycade" fans.
