Snap Pitches Spectacles As Filmmaking Tool

Santa Monica-based Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, is still on a quest to make its fancy (and expensive) 3D image capturing Spectacles sunglasses a hit, and is now pitching the $380 Spectacles 3 as a film-making tool. According to Snap, it has funded and is now promoting a short film, "Duck Duck", which was made "to explore storytelling in 3D". Snap--which is streaming the short film on its Spectacles website, was created with its Spectacles 3 and its dual-HD cameras. Snap said the film was created by Harmony Korine, a filmmaker the company said is known for "cult" films Kids, Spring Breakers and Beach Bum. The 3 minute and 41 second short film involves a man dressed in a hot dog suit, two stuffed walking characters, and psychedelic colors, effects, and music. Snap said the effort was also supported by Gucci.
